My Brother’s Table has provided over 3.2 million meals in a caring atmosphere since 1982. We serve most of these meals in our dining room, but we also provide meals to our community in a variety of ways.
MBT Dinner Shuttle
My Brother’s Table has run a free dinner shuttle delivering food to an average of 20 critically ill individuals and families each week for over 18 years. These people have been referred by medical providers because they are too ill to come to My Brother’s Table and do not qualify for other nutrition programs.
Our Free Medical Clinic
My Brother’s Table has operated a free health clinic with a team of volunteer nurses and doctors for over 20 years. Once a week guests can meet with volunteer nurses and doctors and receive basic medical care and personal care items in our clinic.
Clinic night is always busy. A free, confidential HIV clinic is offered, as are flu shots, other vaccinations when available, and TB tests. Nurses from the City's health department and the Lynn Community Health Center often join clinic volunteers for testing and administration of vaccines. The clinic volunteers are able to spend time with the guests, offering comforting and caring advice in a less stressful environment than an emergency room or medical offices.
Once a month My Brother’s Table provides food for Greater Lynn Senior Services’ Community Cafe at the Lynn Council on Aging. We hope by this effort to inform seniors about the services provided by MBT so that they might feel more comfortable coming to the Table on a more regular basis.
My Brother’s Table collaborates with the REAL literacy program to provide meals and nutritious snacks for over 55 families. My Brother’s Table provides prepared meals so that families can focus their time and energy on sharing a meal and improving literacy. Our partnership with the REAL program allows My Brother’s Table to reach new families and acquaint them with the Table’s services.
Meals For Those In Jail
My Brother’s Table provides daily meals for individuals being held in the Lynn city jail. We do this to help our community and ensure that no one goes without a meal.
Hunger In Lynn
Today the problems of hunger and poverty continue to exist in the city of Lynn. Today there are more hungry families in need. There is a big rise in the number of working poor as well as continued tragedy of homelessness.
